South African group want emigrants to return home

DUBAI – South African business is supporting a semi-government group in its drive to promote remigration among their country’s expats in various parts of the world. Highly educated South African whites (and others as well) have been leaving their country for lucrative jobs elsewhere ever since Apartheid ended. Economic policies, such as the requirement that white entrepreneurs take in a black partner, still make it unappealing for expats to take the South African drive seriously. However, Homecoming Revolution organizers stress that unemployment among whites is only 5 percent (among blacks over 30 percent) and that the economy has grown during each of the last 33 quarters. The country needs qualified people in nearly every field. No one seems to know exactly how many whites have left South Africa over the years.
