APELDOORN – On her birthdays, long lines of groups and bands would march past Queen Juliana and her royal family at the palace Soestdijk, leaving presents which often included dolls dressed in traditional local costumes. During her 32-year reign, Queen Juliana took in over 600 of these dolls, which were put on display recently at Museum Palace Het Loo so all doll enthusiasts can get a closer look at them. A national collection now, the doll exhibit runs till August 1. The Queen’s birthday was on April 30, a date which has been adapted as Queen’s Day by daughter Beatrix as well.
