Shipyard industry makes comeback with high-tech orders

ROTTERDAM – Dutch shipyards are making a comeback building highly technical and specialized vessels such as dredgers, offshore oil platforms, luxury yachts and other unconventional vessels. The high-tech Dutch shipyard industry is also less prone to the cycles which affect the economy as a whole. Some segments of the industry are largely relying on exports. The industry also flourishes when Dutch dredging firms and towing operations have steady lasting contracts.
