Tags: Excerpts from the Windmill

THE HAGUE – The remains of German soldiers who were killed in the Netherlands and buried anonymously but now have been identified, will be reburied with a short ceremony at the German war cemetery at IJsselstein in Limburg from now on. Until recently such burials were performed quietly without any ceremony. The first burial with ceremony took place recently with surviving family, clergy, government officials and military in attendance. The German military still lists 3,000 soldiers as missing in action in the Netherlands of which it is presumed that they perished and were buried anonymously, burial site unknown as well. The number of Dutch missing since World War II is listed at over 500.
