Equestrian art show by Dutch artist attracts Queen Elizabeth

OTTERLO - A Dutch artist who has been specializing in studying horses and their ways and expressions in recent times, hosted British royalty during the recent Royal Windsor Horse Show when they casually wandered into his exhibit. Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles’ wife Camilla recognized friends captured on canvass by painter Ad den Besten. The visit and the subsequent publicity at home became a high point in Den Dikken’s exhibit at the horse show. Den Dikken’s canvasses portray several horse breeds such as the thoroughbred, the Arabian, draft horses, and, of course, the Friesian horse. Den Dikken accepts commissions at his studio ‘De Elzenbosch’ to create horse portraits or horses in action after studying the animal’s specific characteristics.
