AMSTERDAM – A recently published survey ranks the Netherlands as the world’s leader in both outgoing investments abroad and in incoming foreign investments.

Data gathered by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) reveals that, at the end of 2009, the country's direct investments abroad totaled 3,700 billion dollars. This amount is invested by Dutch businesses outside the Netherlands. Foreign investments in the Netherlands totaled 3,000 billion dollars.

The IMF lists the U.S.A. with outgoing investments worth 3,500 billion dollars and incoming investments of 2,300 billion. Third in the global ranking for 2009 was Luxembourg with 1,750 billion dollars and 1,800 billion dollars respectively.

A favourable investment climate in the Netherlands has attracted numerous international corporate head offices to the Netherlands.
