WASHINGTON, DC - Education, Race, and Social Justice is the subject of the tenth annual Kuyper Lecture, organised by the U.S. political action group The Center for Public Justice (CPJ) together with co-sponsors the American Studies Program and the Council of Christian Colleges & Universities.

Named after Dutch theologian and statesman Dr.Abraham Kuyper whose Christian political thought already during his public career received wide attention in the U.S.A., the lecture this year will be given by Rev. Dr. Harold Dean Trulear of the Howard University School of Divinity. Dr. Judith A.W. Thomas of Lincoln University and Dr. Jerry S. Herbert of the American Studies Program will respond to Trulear's lecture.

In 1898, Kuyper was invited to give the well-publicized Stone Lectures at Princeton University, still considered a highlight at the institution. Dutch Premier Prof.Dr. J.P. Balkenende delivered the Stone lecture at Princeton earlier this year.

The CPJ which was founded by U.S. "Kuyperians" is based in Washington. It seeks to influence public policy from a Christian point of view. Abraham Kuyper whose name was given to CPJ's lectures, was extensively examined by several authors in the book, "Abraham Kuyper, A Centennial Reader." The book is listed at www.GoDutch.com/catalogue.
