OLDENZAAL, the Netherlands – The eastern Dutch municipality of Oldenzaal was forced to conduct genealogical research in order to settle a 1800s estate. When council wanted to expropriate a 4,000 sq metres parcel of land for development, it could not located any owners. A legal firm traced over 240 descendants of farmer Brunink who each will receive a share of the sale price.
