Police collects outstanding tickets with tow trucks

AMSTERDAM - Police in the Dutch capital have pioneered an effective way to collect outstanding parking and other traffic tickets. A tow truck prominently follows officers on collection duty to the offenders’ homes, a presence which in the vast majority of cases motivates people to pay the fines on the spot. Over 280 of the 300 outstanding warrants in the western part of town were settled immediately. In only four cases, the tow truck came into action. The collection drive test may be expanded to other areas of the city.
