Cornelis Jetses als sprookjestekenaar

Dutch illustrator Cornelis Jetses (1873-1955) owes his fame particularly to his historical drawings of the school plates depicting the adorable charactors Ot and Sien, and for the book Afke's tiental. Less well known is the fact that he also illustrated the fables of Andersen and Grimm. The author fills a void with this book on Jetses because interest in this famed illustrator remains, but little is available beyond this beautiful book. The artist also produced many refined but playful water colours, always generating a festive atmosphere with a certain sense of nostalgia. Meanwhile, the author has become a Jetses expert since compiling several segment histories of the artist.
